When reading a book like Frank Herbertâs Dune, the immense detail present in the creation of such a world would only be such a daunting task to capture on film. An initial attempt in 1984 was done by David Lynch, who has since largely disowned said film adaptation. But from looking at where said adaptation had failed, in trying to adapt a very dense book as a single film, would only make way for more adventurous filmmakers to try and tackle such a heavy source. Thatâs where Denis Villeneuve comes in, with the first of a two-part adaptation of Dune, born out of his own immense passion for telling this story to the screen. What comes of it, is one of the best blockbusters of recent memory.
